2) Apply to graduate - February 15, 2020

Apply for graduation online or in-person. The application deadline for spring graduates is February 15, 2020. Note: This year the application deadline falls on a weekend, therefor the deadline will be extended to the next business day (Feb. 17). Students must file for graduation by the deadline in order to avoid paying a late fee and have their names printed in the Commencement and Convocation program.

Graduation

What is the difference between Convocation, Commencement and Graduation?

Commencemen- Graduates from all of ASU's campuses are invited to participate in the commencement ceremony. University commencement is the university-wide celebration in which degrees are conferred upon graduating students by the president of Arizona State University. At the University Undergraduate Commencement, graduates are recognized by their college and stand as a group to be presented prior to degree conferral. At the University Graduate Commencement, graduates will have their names called and will individually be recognized before crossing the stage.

Convocation - College and cultural convocations are a time for smaller groups to gather and celebrate students’ graduation. The smaller setting provides the opportunity for individual recognition. Convocation events are where your name is called, and you will cross the stage to receive congratulations.

Graduates do not receive diplomas at University Commencement or at college convocations. Diplomas will be mailed 10 to 12 weeks after the commencement ceremony to your permanent address on file at the university registrar's office.

Graduation is when you complete all your coursework/finish your program of study. To be sure your graduation from ASU is official, you must contact the University Graduation office, as well as speak to your academic advisor. To complete the graduation process, a fee is charged – it is paid online and all forms are submitted online as well, but not until all your coursework is complete. More about graduation and instructions for applying for graduation.

Please note that graduates must both APPLY for graduation and RSVP for the ceremonies in order to attend. Attending the ceremonies is optional. See the schedule of ceremonies for a complete list.

Congratulations on the completion/planned completion of your degree program at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society. You deserve to be proud of this significant academic achievement.

Please review your Degree Audit Report (DARS) to ensure you have met all degree requirements. Be sure to meet with your academic advisor if you have questions or concerns. Undergraduates who wish to remove a minor, concurrent degree or certificate from their degree audit should contact their academic advisor. Failure to do so may result in the student being withdrawn from graduation and delay the posting of their degree.

All undergraduates will wear proper academic regalia to University Commencement and convocation ceremonies.
