ASU’s New Office of Applied Innovation: How New Tech Tools Can Expand Opportunity
In their first instance, many emerging scientific, technological, and design innovations are put toward profit-maximizing ends. ASU’s new Office of Applied Innovation has been created to leverage those innovations in service of expanding access to educational and economic opportunity. Luke Tate, managing director of the office and professor of practice in SFIS, will describe how this approach garnered success in the Obama White House, and how he is applying that approach in partnership with teammates across ASU, spanning themes from artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles to K-12 system design and homelessness.
