SRP assists Puerto Rico with Electric Service Restoration following Hurricane Maria

After Hurricane Maria made landfall in September, 2017, the electric utility industry, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Department of Energy collaborated together to assist the Puerto Rico Electric Utility Authority (PREPA) rebuild the estimated 80% of the electrical grid that was affected. The Salt River Project (SRP) was one of many utilities who provided support. On March 26, 2018, PREPA reported 1.4M (94%) of its customers now have electric service. The presentation will summarize the overall scope of the effort and focus on SRP’s assignment in the Carolina Region which began in December 2017 and concludes in April 2018.

About Wayne Wisdom

Wayne Wisdom is the Senior Director for Distribution Grid Services for the Salt River Project (SRP). In this role, Wayne is responsible for construction and maintenance of SRP’s distribution lines that provide electricity to over one-million SRP customers which are primarily in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Wayne has over 30 years of electric utility experience. He served as the Incident Commander in Puerto Rico’s Carolina Region in January 2018. Wayne has a BSEE degree and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona.
